Making Your Bedroom Romantic

Designing a bedroom is one spot where you want to have an atmosphere that fits you. So if you want to add a bit of a romantic feeling to the room you should pick some choices that are bold and will bring that feeling into the room. Don’t worry about stepping out of the box to decorate this room.

To first set up the atmosphere of romance you will need to pick out a color. The color that is most popular is red; it just means romance for so many people. But try out some of those dark deep reds because this color can be an aphrodisiac and that would be perfect for a romantic bedroom. However, not everyone likes red so pick another color that you think will make the room more romantic. Just remember it’s a color you’re going to have to live with and sleep in everyday. If red is not your primary color then add in red another way; linens, drapes and things like that.

Don’t paint right away until you have figured out what exactly you want. Allow yourself time to figure out the full design that you want for your room, maybe adding in some accessories like a vase or a picture that is romantic. Get together everything that will help to create that romantic atmosphere completely in your room.

Once you have reached your decision for your romantic bedroom design, make sure to shop around for an extravagant bed set. Choose textures which will evoke emotional responses from yourself and your partner. Silks and satin sheets are a great idea for the romantic bedroom setting. Try to avoid antique quilts or something which is more for a country room and is old fashion. If you feel that it’s too over the top just remember, it will set the romantic atmosphere to a higher level.

Don’t forget to select a few beautiful pieces of art to hang on the walls. Your bed will most likely be the focal point of your romantic bedroom, so you should find something special to hang above the headboard. Choose pictures that coordinate with your color scheme. Elegant floral prints or abstract paintings are both good choices for the walls. You could also hang a large wedding photo in an ornate frame.

Remember to add some texture to the floor with a great rug. Especially if you have hardwood on the floor, add a bit of a soft rug that will feel great to walk on. Place several neutral rugs around the room. Don’t add a lot of colored rugs it will only pull the attention away from your bedding.

Finally, add a softer lighting in the room to complete the romantic feel. Try choosing a great accent lamp since they are more romantic than an overhead fan light or other overhead bulbs. To make it even more romantic, try adding recessed lighting with a dimmer switch. You then have control on the brightness of the lighting for different occasions. Candles are another accent and also romantic item to place into the bedroom. Lavender, rose, or juniper scents are a great way to set the mood in your new re-modeled bedroom.

Romantic Interior Decorating has never been so easy with these heart area rugs.
