There are a number of different steps to take when you need to find out how to build a fence. - Begin by choosing the area that you will be installing your new fene and make sure there is plenty of room for it.
- Map out the corners in the fence with temporary posts.
- Tie twine or string from post to post to mark the fence layout. This gives you a bit of a road map for building the fence and helps you keep on track with the design.
- Dig holes for each fence post at the design’s length between posts. Use only treated posts if you are going with wood so they have less chance of rotting. Since the post holds the fence, use the highest quality you an get.
- Install fence railing between each post so that the actual fence has something to be attached to.
- Add in your picketing to your fence. To prevent rotting, install the pickets above the ground to keep them from ground moisture. Installing a rot board is a good idea as well.
- Get your gate so you have a place to get in and out. Including you design elements will bring it all together and make it look nice. Do not forget to paint.
